Proxy Setup Could Not Find the IIS Virtual Root Scripts

Microsoft Proxy Server versions 1.0 and 2.0

SYMPTOMS

During the Proxy Server installation, you may get the following error message:

   Setup could not find the IIS Virtual Root Scripts

CAUSE

This error is displayed when the Proxy Server Setup program cannot find the default Scripts directory that is set up by Internet Information Server (IIS). This usually occurs when the Scripts directory has been removed or renamed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, create a virtual directory with the alias name of scripts and grant it Execute rights in the Properties virtual directory.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem with Microsoft Proxy Server version 1.0 and 2.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
