"Can't Find Microsoft Excel" Using Macro Translator

The information in this article applies to:

Microsoft Excel for Windows, version 2.x, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0

SYMPTOMS

In the Microsoft Excel Macro Translation Assistant, you receive the following error message even when Microsoft Excel is running if the Ignore Other Applications check box is selected in Microsoft Excel version 5.0, or the Ignore Remote Requests check box is selected in previous versions of Microsoft Excel:

WORKAROUNDS

To avoid receiving this error message in the Macro Translation Assistant, do the following:

Microsoft Excel version 5.0

From the Tools menu, choose Options.

Select the General tab, and clear the Ignore Other Applications check box. Choose OK

Microsoft Excel versions 2.x, 3.0 and 4.0

From the Options menu, choose Workspace.

Clear the Ignore Remote Requests check box and choose OK.

MORE INFORMATION

You receive this error message in the Macro Translation Assistant when you choose Lotus 1-2-3 or Multiplan from the Translate menu. This error also occurs when you use the Macro Translation Assistant if Microsoft Excel is not running.
