BUG: BCP.EXE /L Parameter Gives "Not Possible" Error

Last reviewed: April 28, 1997
Article ID: Q88370

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft SQL Server version 4.2 for OS/2
BUG# 7445 (4.2)

SYMPTOMS

If you use the OS/2 Bulk Copy Program (BCP.EXE) with a /L parameter to copy a fixed number of rows to a file, BCP.EXE may give you a spurious error message. For example, if the table name is mem6, and you use /L2000 as the parameter, BCP.EXE may give you this spurious error message:

   DB-LIBRARY error:
The table 'mem6' contains only 2000 rows.
Copying up to row 2000 is not possible.
   BCP copy out failed.

WORKAROUND

Ignore the spurious error message. BCP.EXE has successfully copied the requested number of rows.

STATUS
