Last reviewed: April 29, 1997
Article ID: Q118387

The information in this article applies to:

  - Microsoft SQL Server version 4.2a for OS/2
BUG# OS/2: 9789 (4.2a)

SYMPTOMS

SQL Server for OS/2 Setup program will prompt the user for total system memory. The maximum amount of memory that the Setup program will recognize is 32 MB. Anything over the 32 MB memory value results in an error,

This computer does not have sufficient memory to run SQL Server

and the Setup program will exit .

WORKAROUND

When prompted on a system that has more addressable memory than 32 MB, enter 32000 (or some number less than 32000 and greater than or equal to 8128) so that the installation can proceed. Start SQL Server and use sp_configure to adjust the SQL Server memory allocation as desired. Once the change has been made and a reconfigure has been issued, shutdown or restart the server.

STATUS
