The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSA SELECT statement that contains too many columns can cause a handled access violation error in the optimizer which returns
DB-Library Process Dead - Connection Broken to a DB-Library clientand EXCEPTION_INT_DIVIDE_BY_ZERO is recorded in the SQL Server error log.
WORKAROUNDRemove enough columns from the SELECT to allow the query to run.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft SQL Server version 6.5. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
