BUG: SEM Does Not Allow User of Database That is DBO Use OnlyID: Q148876
|
If there is a user in several databases and one of the database is marked
as dbo use only, then SQL Enterprise Manager (SEM) does not allow the user
to use the server at all. SEM generates the following error while trying to
register the server under the user's name:
Unable to Connect to Server [reason: User %d not allowed in database
'%.*s' - only the owner of this database can access it]. Modify anyway?
A connection could not be established to %s, User %d not allowed in database '%.*s' - only the owner of this database can access it.
If you are making a database (say database 'db1') 'dbo use only' and want to register the server under a user ('usr1') who is a user in 'db1' as well as in other databases, remove 'usr1' from 'db1'.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft SQL Server
version 6.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information
here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
