BUG: SQL Administrator Can Cause Access Violation on Tape DumpID: Q139622
|
The following errors may occur if you use the Windows NT (Win32) version of
SQL Administrator when dumping a database to a tape:
The instruction at 0x00453983 referenced memory at 0x00000000.
The memory could not be written.
Out of Memory
The instruction at 0x00452d03 referenced memory at 0x00000000.
The memory could not be written.
The Win32 version of the SQL Administrator client can cause an application
error and cause SQL Administrator to close if it performs repeated tasks of
dumping a database to a tape device using the following steps:
If you receive one of the above errors, exit SQL Administrator or click End
Task in the Task List dialog box and restart SQL Administrator.
You can also dump a database to tape by using the DUMP command from the
query window of SQL Administrator or any other query utility without
causing the above errors.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft SQL Server version 4.21. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
