MORE INFORMATION

With Microsoft Excel 5.0 for Windows NT, Microsoft Excel creates toolbar settings that are user-specific. When you quit Microsoft Excel, it attempts to create a toolbar file that contains the user name, such as Username.xlb. For example, if you log on to your computer as the user "Administrator" and long filenames are disabled, when you quit Microsoft Excel you will receive the error message because Microsoft Excel attempts to create a file called Adminstrator.xlb (which exceeds the 8.3 limit).
