Excel 1.00-1.06: Out of Memory Error Message Under MultiFinder

SUMMARY

When Microsoft Excel is run under System version 5.0 and MultiFinder, more memory than the default setting of 272K needs to be allocated. Microsoft recommends a memory allocation that is set between 386K and 500K.

The memory allocation can be set above 500K, but the upper limit depends on the available memory after the System and Finder are loaded into memory. Desk accessories (DAs), fonts, control panel documents, and startup documents all affect the amount of memory the System uses.

Note: Microsoft Excel and WriteNow both must be located in the lowest 1 megabyte of memory. If you don't have more than 1 megabyte of RAM, the order of loading shouldn't make a difference. MultiFinder has special code to load these two products into the lowest 1 megabyte (note that there is not enough memory to load both products into the lowest 1 megabyte of RAM).
