OFF98: Program Unexpectedly Quits Using Object Browser

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Object Browser in any of the Microsoft Office 98 Macintosh Edition programs, you may encounter one of the following problems:

CAUSE

These problems may occur if you attempt to use the Object Browser in a low memory situation.

WORKAROUND

To correct the problem, increase the preferred memory size of the Office program that is encountering the low memory situation by 2000 kilobytes.

The following example illustrates how to increase the preferred memory size of Microsoft Excel.

1. Quit Excel if it is running.

2. Double-click the Microsoft Office 98 folder on your hard disk drive.

3. Click the Microsoft Excel icon.

4. Click Get Info on the File menu.

5. Increase the number in the Preferred Size box by 2000.

6. Close the Microsoft Excel Info window.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
