Excel DAM: "XLCL1 mm/dd/yy hh:mm:ss" Files Created on DiskLast reviewed: November 2, 1994Article ID: Q61847 |
SUMMARYWhen the Microsoft Excel Data Access Macro (DAM) receives database records and information from the host computer, the information is first saved to a text file. If you ask that the information be pasted into the worksheet or cancel the query or extraction, Excel deletes the downloaded file. If a problem occurs, such as insufficient disk space to save the file or the number of records extracted exceeds the extract range, Excel saves this downloaded file as "XLCL1 mm/dd/yy hh:mm:ss" where "mm/dd/yy hh:mm:ss" is the current date and time. This file is saved to the location specified by the Query Destination option on the Options menu. If no destination has been set, the file will be saved to the current active directory. These files generally serve as temporary files, in which case they are deleted when they are no longer needed. Extra XLCL1 files can be deleted from the disk to increase disk space.
