When you install version 4.0 of Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh to a remote (external or network) hard disk drive, you may receive the following error message
even when sufficient free space exists on the remote drive.Disk is full
Microsoft Excel creates a folder named "Microsoft" in the System
folder on your local drive (with Macintosh system software versions
7.0 and later, Microsoft Excel creates this folder in the Extensions
folder located in the System folder). The Installed program places the
following files into this folder:
Microsoft Help
Microsoft Help Bookmarks
Help on Help
Spelling
Custom Dictionary
MS US English Dictionary (this filename may be different if you are
using a localized versions of Excel)
