SUMMARY

The alert "Can't save if dependent sheet refers to old and new names" will display if you try to save a supporting worksheet with a new document name that is already being used by a dependent worksheet that is open.

To work around this problem, do one of the following:

  1. Close the dependent worksheet, then save the supporting worksheet.

    -or-

  2. Remove the external references from the dependent document, then save the supporting worksheet.

Note: this may also occur when the dependent sheet is a chart.
