SUMMARYUnder certain conditions, Microsoft Excel displays the error message, "Margins do not fit page size" even when the margin settings are appropriate for the selected paper size and page orientation. This happens when the new margin settings are inappropriate for the paper size and page orientation settings that were in effect when you opened the Page Setup dialog box. This may also occur if you have a corrupted printer driver.
MORE INFORMATIONMicrosoft Excel updates your margin settings before updating your paper size and orientation settings. As a result, when you change the paper size or page orientation and then choose the OK button, Microsoft Excel checks your margin settings against the old paper size and page orientation settings. Microsoft Excel returns the error if your new margin settings aren't appropriate for the old paper size and page orientation settings.
Workaround #1Since the margin information is saved to the worksheet itself, you can copy the problem sheet onto a new worksheet. The new worksheet will contain the default page setup settings and should not exhibit the problem.
Workaround #2The workaround is to close the Page Setup dialog box after making changes to paper size or page orientation and before making changes to margins. This is only necessary if you are changing margins as well as paper size or orientation. For example:
If these workarounds do not fix the problem, you should try to reinstall the printer driver.
