Excel Will Not Print on Large Paper on Plotters

Last reviewed: November 2, 1994

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, versions 2.1 and 3.0

SUMMARY

Microsoft Excel will not show a print preview or print on plotters in portrait or landscape mode on any of the larger paper sizes (D, E, A0, A1, 24 inch rolls, 36 inch rolls). However, the chart will print properly in landscape mode or if a smaller paper size is selected.

MORE INFORMATION

This is due to a limitation on the size of the bitmap Microsoft Excel uses to show and print the chart. Plotting in portrait or landscape mode to the larger paper sizes creates a bitmap which exceeds the size that Microsoft Excel can display and print.

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.
