Excel: /e Command Line SwitchID: Q89203
|
In the "User's Guide 1," for version 4.0 and 4.0a the sections entitled
"Prevent Microsoft Excel from creating SHEET1.XLS" and "Changing the
Properties of the Microsoft Excel Icon" on page 7 discuss use of the /e
command line switch and how to add it to prevent SHEET1 from being created
when Excel is opened. Both of these sections refer to SHEET1.XLS and should
instead refer to SHEET1. Since SHEET1 is not yet saved and named, it should
not have the ".XLS" extension.
In the "User's Guide," version 5.0, pages 646-648 also discuss use of the
various command line options (startup switches). Page 648 notes that /e in
the Command Line box, prevents Microsoft Excel from opening BOOK1.XLS. The
document opened is a new, unsaved workbook titled Book1. There is no
extension added until the file is saved.
