When you run a Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications macro in Microsoft Excel 97, you receive the following error message
Run-time error '1004':
Show method of Dialog class failed
and the macro halts.
This problem occurs when the Visual Basic macro uses Application.Dialogs to display either of the following dialog boxes:
Menu Editor
Make Add-in
For example, the problem occurs when the macro contains either of the
following commands:
Application.Dialogs(xlDialogMenuEditor).Show
-or-
Application.Dialogs(xlDialogVbaMakeAddin).Show
These dialog boxes are not available in Microsoft Excel 97 and cannot be
displayed.
This behavior is by design of Microsoft Excel 97.

The Menu Editor and Make Add-In dialog boxes are not available in Microsoft
Excel 97. However, the functionality that is provided by these dialog boxes
is still available. The functionality is provided in the following ways:
Application.Dialogs(xlDialogCustomizeToolbar).Show
Application.Dialogs(xlDialogSaveAs).Show
NOTE: You cannot display the VBAProject Properties dialog box with a Visual Basic macro. However, you can set individual properties for a project with Visual Basic code.
