BUG: Heap Walker ASCII Display Drops Characters

SYMPTOMS

When using the Memory Dump window in the Heap Walker, the ASCII column may not show a complete line of 16 ASCII symbols.

CAUSE

The program incorrectly determines the number of characters to display.

RESOLUTION

Each line in the Memory Dump window in the Heap Walker displays 16 hexadecimal values. Although the corresponding ASCII symbols are not all displayed, it is possible to convert the hexadecimal numbers to their ASCII equivalents manually.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this bug and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
