Excel: COMMAND+ Underlined Letter Not Working in Dialog BoxID: Q71625
|
In Microsoft Excel, when you use an ampersand (&) to specify an
underlined character in a dialog box that uses static text items as
labels for edit fields, the underlined character will be displayed in
the dialog box, but typing COMMAND+ the underlined character may not
activate the corresponding edit field.
For the COMMAND+ underlined character key combination to work
properly, the field to be activated by the COMMAND+ underlined
character keystroke must immediately follow the static text item in
the dialog box definition table. A correct example of this is shown in
the "Microsoft Excel User's Guide" version 3.0 manual on page 629.
The correct example is also shown in the "Microsoft Excel User's Guide
2," version 4.00 manual on page 273.
When the Dialog Editor is used to create a custom dialog box, the items within the dialog box are pasted in the order that they were created in the dialog editor. Therefore, if the dialog box was created by first specifying all the static text items and then the corresponding edit fields, the COMMAND+ underlined character keystrokes will not work because the edit fields will not be listed directly below their respective static text items in the dialog box definition table.
