BUG: Cannot Map Functions to Special Keys in Developer Studio

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Visual C++, 32-bit Edition, versions 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 5.0

SYMPTOMS

You cannot assign editor functions to the following keys when you click Customize on the Tools menu, and then click the Keyboard tab:

   TAB
   SHIFT+TAB
   ENTER
   BACKSPACE
   ALT+BACKSPACE
   CTRL+BACKSPACE (this key can be customized in version 5.0)

Any attempt to use these keys results in the default dialog/editor functionality.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
