BUG: Using Class Wizard Without a Project Loaded May Hang

SYMPTOMS

When you run Visual C++ for Windows under 16-bit Windows, creating a class with ClassWizard when no project is loaded may generate a dialog box that does not accept user input.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem with Visual C++ for Windows, versions 1.0 and 1.5. We are researching this problem and will post more information in the Microsoft Knowledge Base when it becomes available.

The problem does not occur with Visual C++ 32-bit Edition, version 1.0 or 2.0.

ClassWizard should only be used when a project has been loaded into the Visual Workbench.

To reproduce this problem, perform the following steps:

1. Have the Visual Workbench running, but do not load a project.

2. Create a resource script in App Studio, and save it.

3. Launch ClassWizard from App Studio. ClassWizard asks to create a .CLW

   file from your sources; choose "Yes."

4. A dialog box asks you to select files for the .CLW file; select a file

   and choose "OK."

5. Once in ClassWizard, choose the Add Class command button.

6. Type in a name for the new class and select its base class.

7. Press the Create Class command button.

At this point you should see a dialog box that asking whether you would like to create the project, but it accepts no user input. You will probably have to reboot your computer.
