Excel: Custom Number Format to Align Dollar Sign to the LeftID: Q69670
|
In Microsoft Excel, if you want the dollar signs ($) of a number to
align to the left, use the following number format:
_($* #,##0.00_);($* #,##0.00)
$ 1.00
($ 10.00)
$ 100.00
$1,000.00
The "_(" and "_)" on the positive part of the format allows for the
extra space of a parenthesis. This aligns the number with the negative
format, so that the decimal point will align correctly.
The "$" in the format above places the dollar sign in the display. The
"* " (notice that there is a space after the asterisk) repeats the
blank spaces enough to fill the column width. The "#,##0.00" displays
value using at least one integer and two decimal places.
