FIX: GP Fault Using App Studio to Open Dialog with VBX

SYMPTOMS

A general protection (GP) fault may be encountered while using App Studio to open a dialog containing a VBX control. Additionally, an application may encounter strange behavior, including a GP fault, following a call to the CVBControl::SetStrProperty() function.

CAUSE

There is a known bug in a function called internally by the CVBControl::SetStrProperty() function that may cause corruption in the memory used by the VBX. This code is executed by App Studio while loading the VBX controls located on the dialog.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft Foundation Classes for Windows, version 2.0. This problem was corrected in the Microsoft Foundation Classes for Windows, version 2.5.
