Excel: Error Running Recorded Macro That Creates Chart Object

SUMMARY

In Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, when recording a macro that creates a chart object, the resulting macro places a CANCEL.COPY() command immediately after the COPY() command and preceding the CREATE.OBJECT() command. CREATE.OBJECT() reads information from the Excel Clipboard to create the chart object. Since CANCEL.COPY() clears the Excel Clipboard, CREATE.OBJECT() has no information with which to create the chart and a macro error results.

Workaround

The purpose for the CANCEL.COPY() command is to clear the copy marquee. This command should be placed after the CREATE.OBJECT() command to allow the macro to execute properly. When recording the same macro in Excel for Windows, the CANCEL.COPY() command is correctly placed after CREATE.OBJECT().
