Excel: FORMAT is Fourth Argument in OPEN FunctionID: Q89642
|
Page 307 of the "Microsoft Excel Function Reference Guide" contains a documentation error in the description of the OPEN function. The fourth argument of the OPEN() and the OPEN?() command syntax should be FORMAT, not DELIMITER_NUM. The description for this argument should also refer to the parameter as FORMAT, not DELIMITER_NUM.
The FORMAT parameter specifies what character (tabs, commas, spaces, semicolons, nothing, or custom) to use in separating values when opening a text file. If this parameter is omitted, Microsoft Excel uses the value currently set in the Text File Options dialog box when you choose Open from the File menu.
