SUMMARY

If formulas, rather than values, are displayed for a Microsoft Excel worksheet, the following will result:

  1. The contents of all cells will be left aligned. If a cell that has been assigned a center or right alignment is selected, the Format Alignment command will still indicate the correct setting.

  2. All numeric values will be displayed in the General number format. Special number formats will be "missing," and dates and times will be displayed as serial numbers. The Format Number command will still show the assigned format.

  3. Column widths will be doubled.

To display values again, choose Display from the Options menu and deselect the Formulas check box. The keyboard shortcut for this command (in Excel 2.20 and 3.00) is COMMAND+` (back apostrophe).
