The information in this article applies to:
Using the Visual C++ integrated debugger to debug a Windows-based application compiled with the /Oq compiler option (to generate P-code) causes the following error message to be returned:
'C:\MSVC\SAMPLES\GENERIC\GENERIC.EXE' is not
a valid executable file.
The same application compiled without the /Oq option does not generate
the error message during debugging.
This is by design. P-code applications can only be debugged in the CodeView debugging environment.
NOTE: Because CodeView does not run under Windows NT, P-code applications must be debugged under 16-bit Windows.
