Excel: GP Fault in ANALYSIS.XLL Using Regression ToolID: Q113468
|
In Microsoft Excel, when you use the Regression tool, and you select the Labels check box, you receive a general protection (GP) fault when the summary output table is created. If you choose Ignore, you receive a GP fault in module ANALYSIS.XLL when the chart is created.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Excel for Windows 95, version 7.0.
This problem occurs when the first row of your input data contains numeric values, and you select the Labels check box in the Regression dialog box.
To avoid receiving the GP fault when you use the Regression tool, do either
of the following:
The Regression tool is available when you load either the Analysis ToolPak
- Visual Basic for Applications add-in (ATPVBAEN.XLA) or the Microsoft
Excel version 4.0 Analysis ToolPak add-in (ANALYSIS.XLL). When the add-in
is loaded, the Data Analysis command is added to the Tools menu.
When you use the Regression tool, the Regression dialog box is displayed
with input and output options. One of the input options is Labels. If the
first row in your input range includes report labels, you can select the
Labels check box so that these labels will be used in the summary output
table. If your input range does not contain labels, you can clear the
Labels check box, and the appropriate data labels for the summary output
table will be created automatically.
