The information in this article applies to:
When saving a file through Visual Workbench, 32-bit Edition, the filename's case is not preserved when saved.
The Windows NT File System preserves file and directory name case, but it is not case sensitive. Therefore, Visual Workbench's behavior should not cause any problems.
See the online help in File Manager for further information on how the Windows NT File System handles names. Select Help, choose Work With Files And Directories, then choose Naming A File Or Directory.
If you save "hello.c" with Visual Workbench's File Save/Save As option, the file is actually saved as "HELLO.C" (notice the case) when viewed through the File Manager or command line.
NOTE: This article does not apply to Visual C++ 4.0 running on NT Workstation 3.51. The Visual WorkBench preserves filename case. Even when a file is saved with a name like hELLhOLE.c, in the File Manager, it appears as
hELLhOLE.c HELLHOLE.C <file_attributes>
