After applying Visual Studio 97 Service Pack 2 to a Windows NT system that has Visual FoxPro v5.0x and Visual SourceSafe v5.0x, if you open and then close a Visual FoxPro project that is under Source Code Control, then Visual FoxPro shuts down without any warnings or error messages.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This bug has been fixed in Visual Studio 97 Service Pack 3.

TITLE : INFO: Visual Studio 97 Service Packs - What, Where, and Why
1. On a system that has Visual SourceSafe v5.0x and Visual FoxPro v5.0x,
apply the Visual Studio 97 Service Pack 2. This should update Visual
SourceSafe and Visual FoxPro files.
2. Run Visual FoxPro and open a project that is under Source Code Control.
NOTE: If you do not already have a project under Source Code Control,
then create a new project or use an existing project and add it to
Source Code Control. For additional information, please see the
following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

TITLE : HOWTO: Set Up Source Code Control with SourceSafe
4. Close the Project and leave Visual FoxPro running. After a wait of about
10 minutes, you'll note that Visual FoxPro is not visible on the Windows
Task bar and has shut down without any warnings or error messages.
NOTE: Similar problems exist under Windows 95. The difference is that
Visual FoxPro generates an Exception Error and then it is shut down.
