SUMMARY

The Kernel-mode Driver Reference in the Online documentation for IoRaiseInformationalHardError states that the return value is of type VOID.

The return value has been changed to type BOOLEAN under NT 3.51 as follows:

  • Returns TRUE if the pop-up was displayed.
  • Returns FALSE if the pop-up was not displayed because:

an equivalent pop-up is currently pending a user response (waiting for the user to press <OK>) or is already queued.

    -or-

too many pop-ups have already been queued.

This documentation error was fixed in the Windows NT 4.0 online documentation.
