Excel: Keyboard Selection Options in Dialog with Edit BoxesID: Q42068
|
In Excel version 2.20, you can select menu or dialog options directly
from the keyboard. The letter to press to select a given option will
be underlined, provided the Command Underline preference is selected
in Options Workspace.
If you are in a dialog box with an edit box, pressing an underlined
key will insert that character into the edit box, rather than
activating that command or selecting that option. To select an option
from the keyboard in a dialog box with an edit box, hold down the
COMMAND key while typing the appropriate underlined character.
For example, if you are defining a command macro on a macro sheet, and
you open the Define Name dialog, you can use the TAB key to move
between the "Name" and "Refers to" edit boxes. If you type COMMAND+C,
the option for a command macro will be selected, and you can use the
TAB key to move between "Name", "Refers to", and the edit box for the
COMMAND+OPTION key.
For more information on keyboard shortcuts, refer to "Command
Selection Keys and Shortcut Keys" in the Keyboard section of your
"Microsoft Excel Quick Reference Guide."
