Excel: Network Installation of Open EIS PAK

• Microsoft Excel for Windows, versions 3.0, 4.0, 4.0a, 5.0
• Microsoft Open EIS Pak for Windows version 1.0

SUMMARY

Although the Microsoft Open EIS Pak can be used with a network resident copy of Microsoft Excel, the setup program may not recognize a network installed copy of Microsoft Excel. If the installed copy of Microsoft Excel is not found the following error will be displayed:

Setup did not find the directory you entered as the location for Microsoft Excel. Please retype the full path to the directory where Microsoft Excel is installed.

If you want to install the Microsoft Open EIS Pak and the EXCEL.EXE file is on a network drive, complete the following steps:

1. Using either the DOS COPY command or the Windows file manager, copy the EXCEL.EXE file to a local drive and directory.



2. Run the EIS setup program. When the setup program prompts you for the location of your copy of Microsoft Excel, enter the location of your EXCEL.EXE file you copied in step 2 above.



3. After completing the installation of the Microsoft Open EIS Pak, you may delete the local copy of the EXCEL.EXE file.
