Error Message Is Displayed When Inserting Draw Object in Write

SYMPTOMS

Messages similar to the following are displayed when you try to paste a Microsoft Draw object into a Microsoft Windows Write document:

   ED: An error has occurred in your application. If you choose to
   ignore, you should save your work in a new file. If you choose to
   close, your application will terminate.

   -and-

   Application Error
   ED caused a general protection fault in Module HPPCL5A.DRV at
   0006:OE88

The first message gives you the option to Close or Ignore; however, the Ignore option may not work correctly, and the message may repeatedly display on the screen.

When you choose Close, a general protection (GP) fault error occurs.

CAUSE

These problem occur with many different printer drivers, including some Hewlett-Packard (HP) LaserJet II and III drivers, and IBM4019 and IBM4039 drivers.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, select a different printer in the Printer Setup dialog box of Microsoft Write.
