Excel: Selecting Records Within a Range of Data Example WrongLast reviewed: November 2, 1994Article ID: Q61487 |
SUMMARYPage 171 of the "Microsoft Excel Reference" version 2.2 manual incorrectly states that to select records whose zip codes are between 40000 and 90000, place the comparison criteria under the same criteria name in the same column. The correct method for selecting a group of records that are greater than 40000 and less than 90000 is to type the two comparison criteria in two cells in the same row with the same field name. In this example, type >40000 in the cell under the Zip criteria name, and type <90000 in a cell within the same row. Copy the field name "Zip" and paste it above the cell containing the comparison criteria <90000. Include both Zip criteria names in the criteria range.
