SUMMARYIn Microsoft Excel, you can specify an alternate startup directory known as the ALTSTART directory which opens all the files in it when Microsoft Excel starts. MORE INFORMATIONMicrosoft Excel for Windows workaround: Using a text editor such as the Notepad program included with Windows, remove the following line from the Microsoft Excel section of the EXCEL.INI file:
AltStartup=XLSTARTMicrosoft Excel for OS/2 workaround: Since the EXCEL.INI file under OS/2 is binary, the file cannot be edited. If an erroneous AltStartup directory has been set, delete the EXCEL.INI file. When Microsoft Excel is restarted, this file will be recreated. Some Microsoft Excel specific workspace settings may need to be reset after this process.
