Excel: SUBSCRIBER Function Cannot Be Entered in Formula BarID: Q75816
|
In Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, the SUBSCRIBER function can be entered onto a worksheet only by choosing the Subscribe To command from the Edit menu or by copying and pasting from other cells. It cannot be entered or modified in the Microsoft Excel formula bar. If you attempt to modify an existing SUBSCRIBER function, Microsoft Excel will display the error message: "Function is not valid."
Publishing and subscribing is a feature of Macintosh System 7.0 that allows
different applications to share portions of their documents. A System 7.0
compatible application can publish an edition of itself that can be updated
at any time. Microsoft Excel uses the SUBSCRIBER function to obtain
information from published editions. Microsoft Excel can also publish
editions for access by other applications.
For additional information on publishing and subscribing with Microsoft
Excel, see pages 317-321 in the "Microsoft Excel User's Guide," version 3.0
manual.
NOTE: There is a documentation error in the SUBSCRIBER formulas on page 318
of the "Microsoft Excel User's Guide," version 3.0 manual. The formula is
correct in the "Microsoft Excel User's Guide 2," version 4.0 manual. For
more information on the correct formula, query on the following words:
SUBSCRIBER and 318
