Excel: Third-Party Video Driver May Hang Microsoft ExcelID: Q95194
|
In some instances, your computer may hang when you start Microsoft Excel for Windows. This behavior may result from a conflict with the video driver selected in Windows Setup.
To eliminate a video driver conflict, restart your computer with a
"clean boot," by removing all nonessential commands from your
CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files and then rebooting your system.
If you are using a third party video driver, you will want to go into
Windows setup and reconfigure your system using the standard Windows
VGA driver. If this reconfiguration corrects the problem (Microsoft
Excel no longer hangs), contact the manufacturer of the video driver
and/or the manufacturer of the video card to see if they have an
updated driver and/or card available.
The following video drivers and/or video cards have been known to
conflict with Microsoft Excel upon startup:
STB Powergraph VL24 Video Card
STB Powergraph X/24 Video Adapter
Bios Chip version, 1.1 (version 1.3 corrects this problem)
