Excel: Turning NUM LOCK On and Off

SUMMARY

Microsoft Excel has two keypad modes, NUM LOCK on and NUM LOCK off. When NUM LOCK is active, "NUM" is displayed in the status bar. When it is inactive, "NUM" is not displayed in the status bar.

To toggle between NUM LOCK on and off, hold down the SHIFT key and press CLEAR on the numeric keypad.

When NUM LOCK is active, the numbers and mathematical symbols that appear on the keys will be entered into the worksheet when the keys are pressed. When NUM LOCK is inactive, the keypad is mapped to arrows, arithmetic functions, menus, and the function keys HOME, PGUP, PGDN, and END.
