CD-ROM Does Not Run Automatically When InsertedID: Q177880

When you insert a CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, it may not be run automatically.
This issue can occur if there is an incorrect value in the registry.

guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor
can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys And
Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete
Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in
Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it.
If you are running Windows NT, you should also update your Emergency
Repair Disk (ERD).
To resolve this issue, use Registry Editor to locate the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoDriveTypeAutoRunModify the value for the NoDriveTypeAutoRun key to 0000 95 00 00 00 (or 0x95 in Regedt32.exe).
