GLOSSARY.XLA Is Limited to 31 Entries in Excel

SUMMARY

In Microsoft Excel, GLOSSARY.XLA (an add-in macro) is located in the LIBRARY subdirectory. It allows you to save frequently used formulas and the contents of cells like a scrapbook. As is, this add-in is limited to 31 glossary entries. However, you can modify the add-in to extend this maximum.

Microsoft is NOT responsible for supporting this macro after changes have been made to it.

Perform the following steps to increase the maximum number of entries to the GLOSSARY.XLA add-in:

1. From the File menu, choose Open. From the LIBRARY subdirectory, select GLOSSARY.XLA. Press the SHIFT key and choose OK to open the add-in file for editing. The file may open as a hidden macro sheet.

2. If the file does not appear on the screen, choose Unhide from the Window menu, select GLOSSARY.XLA from the list, and choose OK. This will unhide the add-in.

3. In version 3.0, cells E22:F22 contain the following entries:

         E22:    u101n.MaxEntries        F22: 31
   
      In version 4.0, cells E23:F23 contain the following entries:
   
         E23:    u101n.MaxEntries        F23: 31
   
   

4. Change the entry in cell F22 or F23 (for version 3.0 or 4.0 respectively) to the number of glossary entries you want to allow in the add-in.

5. Save your changes and close the file.

6. Open the changed Glossary add-in in the normal fashion (without holding down the SHIFT key). You will now be able to enter more than 31 glossary entries.
