The information in this article applies to:
When you install IntelliType software under Windows NT version 3.1 or 3.5, the following error appears:
Your Program Manager contains too many Program Groups for
Setup to continue. You will need to remove some Program
Groups to run setup.
This problem occurs when installed Windows NT by upgrading your Windows version 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups version 3.11 installation, and 40 program groups are defined in the PROGMAN.INI file. Program Manager is limited to groups in Windows and Windows for Workgroups.
To work around this problem:
1. Rename the PROGMAN.INI file located in the WINDOWS directory to
PROGMAN.BAK.
2. Re-install the IntelliType software.
3. Rename \WINDOWS\PROGMAN.BAK to \WINDOWS\PROGMAN.INI.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in IntelliType version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
