|
The information in this article applies to:
-
Microsoft Windows NT Server version 4.0
-
Microsoft Windows NT Workstation version 4.0
SYMPTOMS
When you restart your computer after installing Corel CD Creator version
2.0, you may receive one of the following error messages on a blue screen:
STOP: 0x0000001E (0xC0000005,0x802F2594,0x00000001,0x00000000)
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
STOP: 0x0000000A (0xE1193F88, 0x00000002, 0, 0x8038E019)
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL - PORTDRVR.SYS
This error may also occur when upgrading to Windows NT 4.0 if the system
already has Corel installed.
CAUSE
The Portdrvr.sys file installed by CD Creator version 2.0 is incompatible
with Windows NT version 4.0.
RESOLUTION
To correct this problem, use one of the following methods:
- Restart your computer and press the SPACEBAR when you see the "Press
spacebar NOW to invoke Hardware Profile/Last Known Good menu" message.
NOTE: The last known good configuration works only if you have not
successfully logged on since the problem began. If the error occurred
during an upgrade to Windows NT 4.0, then this method will not work and
you should use the following method.
-or-
- Rename Portdrvr.sys in the %SystemRoot%\System32\Drivers folder.
NOTE: If Windows NT is installed on a FAT partition, boot to MS-DOS
using either a bootable floppy disk or the MS-DOS option on the startup
menu. If Windows NT is installed on an NTFS partition, install a
parallel copy of Windows NT to access the drive.
-or-
In Control Panel, double-click Devices, and then set the Startup option
for Port Driver to disabled. Then restart your computer.
You can also disable the Port Driver device from a parallel installation
using the steps from the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
