WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious, system-wide problems that may require you to
reinstall Windows NT to correct them. Microsoft cannot
guarantee that any problems resulting from the use of
Registry Editor can be solved. Use this tool at your own
    risk.
Older firmware versions in the Quantum LPS240 IDE controller can
corrupt data or return incorrect data even though the data on the
drive is correct. To determine the kind of disk you are using, run Registry Editor (REGEDT32.EXE) and look at the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\hardware\devicemap\atdiskUnder each controller listed, there should be a key for each disk controlled. Under the disk key, the value entry form identifier generally has a string with the make of the drive. The firmware value entry should have the firmware revision for that drive. Quantum LPS240 should have a firmware revision of 6.x or later. Earlier versions of this drive may need to be returned to the manufacturer since the 6.0 firmware requires a PCB swap on the drive.
