If you use Microsoft Query to open a dBASE file, a dBASE file other than the one you selected may be opened.
The symptoms noted above may occur if you have two files in the same folder with identical names except that one file ends with the .dbf extension, as in the following example:
MyFile
MyFile.dbf
If you try to open MyFile, the MyFile.dbf file may be opened instead.
When you save a file as a dBASE file (in the Microsoft Excel Save As dialog box), make sure that the .dbf extension is appended to the file name.
