DynaComm Elite May Cause a GP Fault When Installing Speech

SYMPTOMS

While attempting to set up the Speech option in DynaComm Elite under Windows NT on a DEC Alpha computer, you may receive the following error message:

   DYNACOMM caused a General Protection Fault in
   Module KRNL386.EXE at 0001:AA12.

CAUSE

This error occurs when you attempt to set up the Speech option in DynaComm and you have no sound card installed. When you choose the Speech button in DynaComm, you receive a dialog box stating that the Speech option will not work on your system. When you choose Close, the only choice available, you receive the error message above.

RESOLUTION

To prevent this error message, do not choose the Speech option unless you have verified the presence of a sound card.
