The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIf you remove the Event Viewer keys for an application that you are monitoring in Event Viewer, it fails to start. For example, if you are monitoring SQL Server events and you go into the Registry and remove the Event Viewer keys for SQL Server, Event Viewer will no longer start.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. This problem was corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1.
