File Display In Windows NT Explorer May Appear SlowID: Q178346
|
When you view a file from a network resource with Windows Explorer or Windows NT Explorer, it may take longer to view the file than when you use File Manager to view the file.
Windows Explorer and Windows NT Explorer support Object Linking and
Embedding (OLE). When Windows Explorer or Windows NT Explorer displays a
list of files on a network resource, it downloads the header information
and other details for all files in the folder, such as program
associations, icon information, and so on.
File Manager does not support OLE. File Manager reads the file label and
displays the file name, and then performs the appropriate operation (such
as reading or opening the file). The additional information is not used by
File Manager.
