  • Microsoft Windows NT operating system version 3.1

SUMMARY

You can change the system font in Windows NT by editing the Registry using the REGEDIT utility.

WARNING: Using the Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious, system-

wide problems that may require you to reinstall Windows NT to correct
them. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the
use of the Registry Editor can be solved. Use this tool at your own
   risk.

The FONTS.FON value in the following subkey under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE subtree can be changed to the font of your choice:

   \SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\GRE_Initialize

Note: You must enter a font filename with the extension, .FON, in order for this to work.

CAUTION: Changing the system font may make some command buttons, check boxes and captions unreadable, especially if you are using a 256 color video driver.
