The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSEven though you enable the LogAnonymous value in the Registry to log an anonymous FTP user in the System Log of Event Viewer, some anonymous users are not logged.
CAUSEWhen you log on to a Windows NT FTP server and enter your user name as anonymous, the following prompt appears:
331 Anonymous access allowed, send identity (e-mail name) as password. Password:If you enter one or more characters and press ENTER, the connection is logged in the System Log of Event Viewer. However, if you press ENTER without entering any characters, the connection is not logged in the System Log, even though you have successfully logged on to the system.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
